Nick LeGeyt
FOUNDER/OWNER

As the founder and owner of Pleasant Valley Sawmill, Nick grew up surrounded by the smell of fresh-cut wood, the hum of heavy machinery and ice hockey. The grandson of the legendary Normand Lussier from Lussier Carpentry, Nick inherited both his skill and passion for working with wood, along with a natural talent for turning raw, local resources into refined products. From an early age, he was drawn to the strength and precision of machinery, finding his calling in the art of milling and crafting quality lumber.

With a commitment to sustainability and a respect for New England's natural beauty, Nick sees each project as an opportunity to create something lasting—lumber that’s fit for fine furniture, home builds, and projects destined to stand the test of time. Driven by his family's tradition and a love for bringing out the potential in every piece of wood, Nick continues to shape the sawmill into Connecticut's trusted source for premium, locally-sourced lumber.

PEPERE

At 80-something and still going strong, Pépère is not just a carpenter; he's a legend with a hammer in one hand and a coffee in the other. Born and raised in French Canada, he's been perfecting his craft since before most of us knew what a saw looked like. After decades running Lussier Carpentry, he now moonlights at our sawmill, where he keeps us all on our toes with his endless tips, tricks, and more than a few French words we have no idea what they mean.
